These sunglasses use Carl Zeiss lenses. Carl Zeiss lenses, famous for their use in Leica cameras, are made of plastic but possess a clarity similar to glass lenses.

These lenses primarily reduce reflections from below, such as from water or snow surfaces. Reflected light from snow or water surfaces makes the entire field of vision dazzling and reduces visibility. Polarized lenses block diffuse reflection, resulting in a clear, high-contrast view. Wearing sunglasses with polarized lenses allows you to enjoy snow sports like skiing and snowboarding without stress, even near water or in snowy mountains. They are also recommended for running on concrete or for golf, where glare is intense.

Hanamori processing is applied by Japanese craftsmen. Compared to standard models, these sunglasses have a different nose pad height, ensuring they stay securely in place and prevent slipping. This addresses common Asian concerns such as eyelashes touching the lenses or lenses touching the cheeks.

◾️About Bio-Acetate

In the eyewear industry, waste accounts for 70-80% of the total weight of materials involved in the production process. Finding a material suitable for sunglasses while minimizing environmental impact was extremely challenging. Cotton, primarily used in acetate, was quickly ruled out as a material for WAITING FOR THE SUN due to the high water consumption required for cultivation. WAITING FOR THE SUN's bio-acetate is recyclable. Waste generated during machining is collected and partially reused in the material's manufacturing process. Our bio-acetate is made from wood fiber. Well-managed and sustainably cultivated forests contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Growing trees release more oxygen and absorb more CO2 than aging trees. Our plastic frames are 100% biodegradable plastic. This bioacetate has been verified and certified by OWS (Organic Waste Systems), an internationally recognized independent research laboratory specializing in biodegradability testing (compliant with ISO 14855).
