◾️About Bio-Acetate

In the eyewear industry, waste accounts for 70-80% of the total weight of materials involved in the production process. Finding a material suitable for sunglasses while minimizing environmental impact was extremely challenging. Cotton, primarily used in acetate, was quickly ruled out as a material for WAITING FOR THE SUN due to the high water consumption required for cultivation. WAITING FOR THE SUN's bio-acetate is recyclable. Waste generated during machining is collected and partially reused in the material's manufacturing process. Our bio-acetate is made from wood fiber. Well-managed and properly cultivated forests contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases. Growing trees release more oxygen and absorb more CO2 than aging trees. Our plastic frames are 100% biodegradable plastic. This bioacetate has been verified and certified by OWS (Organic Waste Systems), an internationally recognized independent research laboratory specializing in biodegradability testing (compliant with ISO 14855).
